Focus:
This article looks at the impact of inverting and non-inverting integrator configurations
on the Rogowski coil sensor by analyzing the responses of both configurations to the
derivatives of rectangular pulses. First, the author creates an analytic expression for
rectangular pulses and then analyzes how their derivatives are processed by inverting and
non-inverting integrators. These differentiated pulses represent processing of rectangular
pulses by the mutual inductance M of the current bus and Rogowski coil. A design example
demonstrates the response of the inverting integrator.
