Non-Inverting Integrators Are Not Really Integrators (Part 3): Impact On Rogowski Sensors

by Gregory Mirsky, Design Engineer, Deer Park, Ill., How2Power Today, Jul 15 2025

Focus:
This article looks at the impact of inverting and non-inverting integrator configurations on the Rogowski coil sensor by analyzing the responses of both configurations to the derivatives of rectangular pulses. First, the author creates an analytic expression for rectangular pulses and then analyzes how their derivatives are processed by inverting and non-inverting integrators. These differentiated pulses represent processing of rectangular pulses by the mutual inductance M of the current bus and Rogowski coil. A design example demonstrates the response of the inverting integrator.
