Focus:
Part 4 of this article series offers detailed discussion on radiated emissions of dc-dc
converters, with a focus on EMC requirements in industrial and automotive applications. This
14-page article, explains the basic mechanisms responsible for radiated EMI, and discusses the
requirements of the EMC standards (such as FCC Part 15 Subpart B, CISPR 22, CISPR 25 and UNECE
Regulation 10) which apply to industrial, multimedia and automotive equipment. This article
offers practical explanations of the standards requirements, including frequency ranges and
emissions limits, and goes into detail on the test equipment setups required (including the
antennas) to perform pre-compliance radiated emissions testing. Example test setups and
measurement results are presented for two dc-dc buck converters.
