Controlled power supply increases op amps' output-voltage range

by Yakov Velikson, Lexington, MA; Edited by Brad Thompson and Charles H Small, EDN, Mar 15 2007

Focus:
Instead of adding high-voltage transistors to extend the output voltage range of an op amp, it's possible to use a controlled power supply for the op amp itself. This approach increases the op amp's output voltage range without changing its operational characteristics.
