Simple and effective inrush-current limiter stops surges

Focus:
Active circuit measures inrush current and then switches a series resistor into the input path of the power supply to limit inrush current during charging of input capacitors. Once current reaches a preset threshold, the circuit switches out the resistor using a relay. This represents a lower-loss alternative to NTC thermistors.
