In the design of transformers and inductors, winding lengths and areas are required as
part of any design procedure. Winding resistance varies proportionally with winding
length, and for a given number of turns, the wire size that fits the allotted winding area
is calculated from the geometrically-derived available area. Part 1 of this article
derived winding lengths and areas for cores with round windows. This part 2 derives the
equivalent design formulas for square (or nearly square) windows such as those of EE, EI,
and EFD cores.
