Focus:
Originally developed as a power supply solution for a set-top box application, a dual-output 130-W forward converter uses synchronous rectification and a coupled output inductor to achieve high efficiency and low cost. The design, which is built around the FS7M0880 current-mode PWM controller IC, is described in detail. Part 2 discusses design of the coupled-output inductor, MOSFET selection, capacitor selection, and loop compensation.
