Focus:
Approximately 7 minutes in length, this video present step-by-step instructions for troubleshooting and fixing flyback converter designs with less than 0.1 V across the main power supply output. The course is specifically geared to troubleshoot flyback power supplies based on Power Integrations offline power supply ICs. However, most of the instructions will also apply to supplies built around other power supply chips. The video tells you what equipment you'll need and how to set it up, how to identify the cause of your power supply's problem, and how to fix it. Possible causes of no output include incorrect layout, missing components, cold solder joints, unconnected input, blown input fuse, reversed components, short circuit on the PCB, and a damaged PI chip. A transcript of the video is provided in the course notes.
