The Quiet Converter is a resonant power converter that features inherently low levels of noise. It was originally developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Division 38, to power very sensitive instruments and has been applied at power levels ranging from 1 W to 2 kW. In this article, operation of the Quiet Converter is explained and instructions are given for implementing this design including design of the converter's magnetic components.
