A low-cost, 5000-W engine/generator set (EGS) is a handy piece of equipment to have when the utility power is lost. But if you’re asleep when the power fails, the EGS won’t turn itself on. A simple monitor described here sounds an alarm to alert the user that utility power has failed, and also alerts the user when the power has returned.
