Focus:
In distributed power architectures where the motherboard or backplane feeds a 48-V bus to plug-in cards, brick-style dc-dc converters often provide isolation between the 48-V bus and the card-level circuitry. For systems that are mission critical, monitoring the 48-V bus can detect important faults before they impair system operation.
